Case Study : Grand Theft Grotto

Grand Theft Grotto is a Flash-based viral marketing game developed for recruitment firm Protech HR.

Borrowing the name from the infamous video game, the gameplay centred around Otto, Santa’s evil twin, and his attempts to ruin Christmas. Otto must ‘steal’ all the presents whilst avoiding an angry Santa and his elves. Santa in particular has a rather unfriendly greeting!

The game also features a high scores table and an extensive off-site email marketing campaign. Participation was also encouraged by a competition to win an Xbox 360 which ran through the Christmas period.
